XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 02/28
Best conditions of the year are right now! The snow is fast, the trails are groomed wide and packed firm, and it’s going to be “balmy” the next few days! We have excellent classic and skating conditions on all trails. Groomer Henry will start snowcombing skating lanes and resetting tracks where needed early this morning. We have 10 to 18 inches of snow in the woods and 6 to 10 inches packed on the trails.

Today: A mix of clouds and sun during the morning will give way to cloudy skies this afternoon. High 24F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.
Saturday: Partly cloudy skies. High 24F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.
Sunday: Cloudy. High 28F. Winds SSW at 10 to 15 mph.
Snow Depth in Woods: 10 to 16
Packed Snow Depth on Trails: 6 to 10
Ice, Glaze, Barespots: all trails have freshly groomed snow.
A free Tree ID & Forest Management Tour is today, Saturday, and will be led by a member of the Michigan Department of Agriculture at 10:00am. Participation in this event is free with an XC Ski HQ Facilities pass, and participants must be on skis or snowshoes, which may be rented for a nominal fee. All you need to do is show up for a great outdoor learning experience!
Today’s lunch special is Get your Fill at the Grill! Your choice of lean beef burger, salmon burger, or vegetarian black bean burger, grilled outside to perfection by a member of our Grill Team. Lots of condiments and toppings to choose from, and if you dare, get your entree cooked “Fire on the Mountain” Style with jalepenos and buffalo bleu cheese sauce!
Our 40th Anniversary Party is tomorrow, Sunday, March 1st! It is a retro themed party, so wear your retro ski costume and bring your wooden skis. We will be crowning a Retro King & Queen for whoever has the best costumes, and there will be Famous Pulled Pork BBQ and free refreshments. Don’t miss this party of the year!
