XC Ski Headquarters Cross Country Ski Report – 02/15

Burrrr. Pretty chilly this early morning. The good news is that the winds have died down and that it will be a sunny day today! Groomer Henry must be doing a great job of grooming because we had a lot of skiers yesterday. The skiing was great on all the trails except were you had to ski into the wind coming back on the Manitou, that was pretty cold. Trapper Gage kept the bonfire going at Trapper’s cabin all afternoon serving hot cocoa and giving skiers a warm destination on the trails.

Groomer Henry will start grooming early this morning and, as he did yesterday, he will Ginzu snowcomb the skating lanes and set fresh tracks on all the trails. Trapper Matt will be tending the bonfire and serving Hot Cocoa at Trapper’s cabin this afternoon.

Forecast:
Today: Sunny. High 4F. Winds N at 7 to 11 mph.
Monday: Sunshine and a few clouds. A few flurries or snow showers possible. High 14F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Ice, Glaze, Barespots: all trails have freshly groomed snow.

A very popular XC Ski HQ tradition, Paella Feast celebrates the world-renowned and absolutely delicious rice dish that originates in Spain, and offers skiers a hearty, flavorful feast. Bob and Lynne learned the method from Paella chef master Ayo while visiting Nerja, Spain, and are excited to serve this traditional dish to hungry skiers at XC Ski HQ. Prepared in a massive cast iron pan over an outdoor fire pit, this lunch is almost as enjoyable to watch being cooked as it is to eat! Served piping hot with vegetables and Saffron-infused chicken and shrimp. This dish will be served in two seatings: 1:00pm and 3:00pm. Buen Provecho!

The “let it snow” sale continues with great deals on XC Ski packages, racing skis and boots! Shop our Valentine’s Day Sweater Sale… 30% off ALL sweaters, from Dale of Norway, Smartwool, Woolrich, Patagonia, and more!
